GySgt Cortez Pree, the Commandant of the Mizzou Marine Corps Leagues presents John Weant the State Americanism Award October 5, 2006.

John Weant was awarded the Americanism Award from the Marine Coprs League, Department of Missouri. The Americanism Award is based upon an Individuals devotion to duty within the Marine Corps League, efforts that they put forth to the achievement of the Marine Corps League Goals. It also recognized the personal eforts that the individual puts forth to promote good will and assistance to individuals in their personal and public life without expecting to gain fame and fortune by their efforts. It recognizes selfsacrifice at directing benefits toward others. It especially recognizes the efforts as they make impacts on others at both the local and national level thru their sacrifical efforts whenever that happens.

John was the Chairman of the First Moberly Veterans Day Parade in November 2005, a very successful event with over 80 entries and a program held afterwards at the Municipal Auditorium. This year he is the Cochairman of the Veterans Day Parade coming up on November 11, 2006. He is the Senior Vice-Commandant of the Mizzou Marine Corps League Detachment #828, P.O. Box 1371, Columbia, MO 65205, www.mizzou.marines.missouri.org. Also, the editor of the Mizzou Marine newsletter. John is the president and co-founder of the Marine Graduation Foundation.
